Rapunzel Rose

photo 1 (2)

So I finally got around buying myself extensions and I decided to go with Headkandy: I was looking for lenght and volume and from reviews I’ve read, they seemed to be exactly what I was looking for!

Obviously, no one makes pink hair extensions so I ordered my in “Bunny Blonde” and dyed them pink!

Of course, it’s always really hard to get the exact same pink shade twice so my extensions are a little bit darker then the rest of my hair. I think washing them a second time will help get the colour right but I was so excited to wear them, that it didn’t really matter how accurate the shade was haha They also feel quite heavy on my head… 180 grams of hair isn’t exactly light but I’ll get used to it again!

How it works

First you take a fashion personality quizz that helps JustFab offer you shoes according to your taste every month in your personalized boutique. You can then chose one of the two subscription options: pay as you go or VIP.

Personally, I find the VIP program more interesting: the shoes are all priced at 39.95$ USD and you have no obligation to buy every month. If you don’t find anything you like in your boutique or in their complete selection of thousands of shoes, you can simply skip the month and your won’t be charged. It’s very important that you skip your month, otherwise, you are charged and received a store credit. To avoid that, I set a monthly alarm on my iPhone hehe. If you’re scared that you will forget to skip every other month, you can still opt for the pay as you go option.

The shoes are FABULOUS and very comfortable. I chose a size 9, although I usually wear size 9 1/2 as they don’t offer half size after size 9. The colour was exactly as pictured and the velvety material was very nice. The shoe was tad small on me, and altought they are made out of synthetic material, I was able to stretch them enough so that they fit perfectly on my feet. The shoes are very comfortable and I wore them for the first time on a night out with friends. The heel is very sturdy and although the heels are towering (5 1/2 inches!!!! ) I didn’t feel that I was about to fall over. The design and colour of the shoe work for both dressy and casual outfits. Finally, the peep toe is suitable for girls with long toes / greek feet, it doesn't make your toes look too long at all.

Why I might not order again

Shipping to Canada is absolutely ridiculous. Although the website claims free shipping is included, there is actually a 9$ surcharge for shipping to Canada. What irritated me was that you receive a tracking number… that does not work. So I contacted customer service and I was informed that tracking options are not always available for parcels to Canada, it’s a 50 – 50 thing. From a customer point of view, you should not surcharge for a service that’s only works for 50% of your customer. So until they can arrange more stable shipping options for Canadian customers, I will seriously reconsider buying from there as it’s simply not convenient to try to guess from their 4 to 10 business days shipping window on what day my parcel might arrive. I was lucky that someone was home since they ended up arriving while I was in Connecticut…

Final review

Shoe selection: (5 / 5)
Quality: ( 5 / 5 )
Pricing: ( 4 / 5 )
Shipping ( 2 / 5)
Customer Service: ( 3 / 5) – email replies are copy paste from website, and they deleted my comment from their FB page wtf

But a girl of seventeen is not always thinking of books

… but very often of clothes. I’m not seventeen anymore, but I still think of clothes over books! This month, I’ve been going through the usual gal magazines but I couldn’t find a lot of outfits that attracted me so I browsed Seventeen and found what my eye has been looking for: sweet & pastels!

A lot of these feel more like spring fashion, but I don’t care. With the current weather, I rather have spring all over again! Here’s my shopping list inspired by these looks!

□ Pastel skinny jeans
□ More striped shirts!
□ Wedged sandals
□ Cute sneakers
□ Mint jeans

Adventures in Connecticut

IMG_3291He didn’t like this picture, so blurred his face, hihi

Last week I decided to take a few days off from work and visit my good friend B oppa ( long time readers will remember our past adventures shenanigans ) in Connecticut. I didn’t go there for tourism, I really needed to take a break from everything and relax so we spent a lot of time resting, hanging out with friends and eating good food.

B has recently discovered his love for fishing so we decided to go Deep Sea fishing in Groton (can my French friends stop a moment here and admire how hilarious that town’s name is??) . I used to go fishing with my father as a kid but I was quite nervous since everyone on the boat seemed to really know what they were doing… plus I was the only girl on board and I felt like I was invading a secret men society or something. The word got around on the boat that I was from Canada so a lot of fishermen were very helpful to me. :)

After a while, I got the hang of it and finally caught something!! I was so exited but my left hand is still quite painful so I wasn’t strong enough to reel it up so I switched rods with B so he could reel it up for me. As he was reeling my fish, his rod caught something too! So technically, I caught 2 fishes!

After those two catches, my arm was quite painful so I didn’t spend much time fishing afterwards. I was quite happy with catching 2 blue bass but B had really set his mind on catching a stripped bass so that we could eat it as sashimi, and after a few hours, he finally caught one!

Letting the pro handle the dead fish… I don’t really like the chopping/blood part

In total, he caught together 8 fishes! B gave most of them to a friend who owns a Japanaese restaurant but he kept the stripper for dinner. He sliced it up and prepared more yummy food, invited a few friends and we had a delicious feast!

This sashimi can’t get any fresher!

Now, I really want to go fishing again… as soon as my hand is better, I’ll be reeling fishies out of the sea like a pro too!

GlossyBox June Overview

GlossyBox, GlossyBox, what did you send me this month? Oh a lot of fabulous ( and full size!!! ) products! In total, 7 products, most of which, I'm really excited about!

Bioré 4-in-1 Revitalizing Cleanser (full size) and nose strips (sample size)
When I attended the GlossyBox event last month, I received the Bioré combination skin balancing cleanser and I love it! So I'm really excited to try the 4-in-1 cleanser since it is a foam and claims to clean surface dirt, oil and make-up. Nose strips are a classic when it comes to skin care so you can never have enough of those!

Venus Embrace Razor (full size)
Considering how expensive razors can be, I'm really happy that this was included in this month's box... Just one razor is how much a monthly GlossyBox cost so that's a really good deal!

Wella Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Hairspray (full size)
I'm really curious about this hairspray: beach hair is always trendy and this might just be exactly what you need to achieve that look.

Covergirl Blastflipstick Blendable Lip Duo in Mix (full size)
I'm a little but confused by this product: I'm not a fan of lip products, even less of lipsticks. I like the idea of a duo... But the color is really weird to me: a old school gold and a dark brown. Wait what? It sounds like something you might see on a runway but surely not on a 5"8, pink haired, extremely pale girl on the street. So I'm not quite sure what I'll do with this product... Maybe use it as a cream eyeshadow?

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen FPS 55 (sample size)
This is my favorite sunscreen and I'm quite happy to receive a sample size: the size is so convenient that you can leave it in your purse for days when you rush out of the house and forget to apply sunscreen. Not a discovery for me but a very useful sample!

Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex
I'm a skin care junky, I will admit it. When I was in Korea, I stocked up on a lot of products and samples and as I'm running low on those, I'm curious to try this one. Not sure on how I will be able to judge its' effectiveness, considering I'm still in my early twenties, but hey, it's still something nice to try.

Overall, this is a good box. I've read a few reviews from other bloggers that were unhappy about the delivery time of their boxes this month but considering there were two national holidays (June 24th and July 1st) I find the delivery time reasonable. PostCanada is known for being very slow before and after holidays and as unfortunate as it is, it's not something GlossyBox can do something about.

I appreciated the theme of the box; it clearly shouted "summer time" when I opened it. Less luxury products this month but a lot of full size products, bringing the value of this month's box to a whooping 61.04$ worth of products (source) ! The covergirl is the odd product of the box but I love everything else!

GlossyBox Canada is 15$ per month, if you would like to subscribe, click here :D
